Halloween is indeed one of the oldest holidays known to us, with its origins going back thousands of years to approximately 5 B.C. Halloween has had many influences from many cultures over the centuries, from the Celtic festival of Samhain, to the Roman’s Pomona Day, as well as the Christian holidays of All Saints or All Souls Day.

Hundreds of years ago, in what is now known as Great Britain and Northern France, there lived the ancient Celtic civilization. The Celtics worshipped nature and had many gods, with the sun god as their favorite. It was “He” who commanded their work and their rest times, as well as who made the earth beautiful and allowed their crops to grow.The Celtics celebrated their New Year on November 1st. It was celebrated every year with a festival, and it marked the end of the “season of the sun” and the beginning of ”the season of darkness and cold.” This concept is also interpreted and practiced in modern day Wicca as the “Light Half” and “Dark Half” of the year. On the eve before the Celtic New Year (October 31), it was believed by many folk that all of the dead were called together . During this calling of the dead, the dead themselves would take on many different forms, with the most “evil” or “bad” of spirits taking the form of animals. To the Celts, the most “evil” spirits would take the form of cats. On October 31st, after the crops were all harvested and stored for the long winter, the cooking fires in every home would be extinguished. The Druids (which were the Celtic priests), would meet on the highest of hilltops in the darkest oak forests (oak trees were considered as extremely sacred – and still is to this day in modernized Celtic/Wiccan Traditions). It would be here where the Druids would then light new fires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals to their God. And while they danced around the newly lit fires, the season of the sun would pass and the season of darkness would begin.

The following morning the Druids would give an ember from their fires to each family, who would then take them home to start new cooking fires. These fires would keep the homes warm and free from all “evil” spirits.

The November 1st 3-day festival was named after Samhain (the God ruling over the “Dark Half” of the year), and honored both the sun god as well as Samhain. During this time, many people would parade in costumes made from the skins and heads of their animals. And it was this festival that essentially became the first Halloween.However, during the first century the Romans invaded Britain. And with them they brought many of their own festivals and customs. One of these was the festival known as Pomona Day – which was named after their Goddess of fruits and gardens. Coincidentally (or not so) it too was celebrated around the first day of November. But after hundreds of years of Roman rule, the customs of the Celtic’s Samhain festival and the Roman’s Pomona Day mixed together to essentially form one major holiday.The next influence came about with the spread of the new Christian religion throughout Europe and Britain. In approximately 835 AD the Roman Catholic Church made November 1st a church holiday to honor all the saints. This day was called All Saint’s Day (or Hallowmas or All Hallows). Then many years later the Church turned November 2nd into a holy day as well – calling it “All Soul’s Day.” And much like the ancient Celts it too was to honor the dead and was celebrated with big bonfires and parades. However the people’s “costumes” differed from the Celts, where they would dress up as saints, angels, and devils.But the spread of Christianity definitely didn’t make people forget about their earlier customs. On the eve of All Hallows (October 31), people continued to celebrate the festival of Samhain and Pomona Day. However, over the years the customs from all of these holidays mixed. October 31st then became known as All Hallow Even, to eventually All Hallow’s Eve, then Hallowe’en, and finally – Halloween.

The Halloween we celebrate today includes all of these influences: Pomona Day’s apples, nuts, and harvest, the Festival of Samhain’s black cats, magic, spirits and death, and the evil spirits, ghosts, skeletons, and skulls from All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day.

1. What does the end of summer have to do with a festival of the dead?

The Celts believed that when people died, they went to a land of eternal youth and happiness called Tir Nan Og. They did not have the concept of heaven and hell that the Christian church later brought into the land. The dead were sometimes believed to be dwelling with the Fairy Folk, who lived in the numerous mounds, or sidhe (pron. “shee”), that dotted the Irish and Scottish countryside. Samhain was the new year to the Celts. In the Celtic belief system, turning points, such as the time between one day and the next, the meeting of sea and shore, or the turning of one year into the next were seen as magickal times. The turning of the year was the most potent of these times. This was the time when the “veil between the worlds” was at its thinnest, and the living could communicate with their beloved dead in Tir Nan Og.

2. What about the aspects of “evil” that we buttociate with the night today?

The Celts did not have demons and devils in their belief system. The fairies, however, were often considered hostile and dangerous to humans because they were seen as being resentful of men taking over their lands. On this night, they would sometimes trick humans into becoming lost in the fairy mounds, where they would be trapped forever. After the coming of the Christians to the Celtic lands, certain folk saw the fairies as those angels who had sided neither with God or with Lucifer in their dispute, and thus, were condemned to walk the earth until judgment day. In addition to the fairies, many humans were abroad on this night, causing mischief. Since this night belonged neither to one year or the other, Celtic folk believed that chaos reigned and the people would engage in “horseplay and practical jokes”. This served also as a final outlet for high spirits before the gloom of winter set in.

3. What about “trick or treat”?

During the course of this holiday, many of the people would imitate the fairies and go from house to house begging for treats. Failure to supply the treats would usually result in practical jokes being visited on the owner of the house. Since the fairies were abroad on this night, an offering of food or milk was frequently left for them on the steps of the house, so the homeowner could gain the blessings of the “good folk” for the coming year. Many of the households would also leave out a “dumb supper” for the spirits of the departed.

4. What other practices were associated with this season?

Folk tradition tells us of many divination practices associated with Samhain. Among the most common were divinations dealing with marriage, weather, and the coming fortunes for the year. These were performed via such methods as ducking for apples, and apple peeling. Ducking for apples was a marriage divination. The first person to bite an apple would be the first to marry in the coming year. Apple peeling was a divination to see how long your life would be. The longer the unbroken apple peel, the longer your life was destined to be. In Scotland, people would place stones in the ashes of the hearth before retiring for the night. Anyone whose stone had been disturbed during the night was said to be destined to die during the coming year.

But Where Did the Jack-o-Lantern Come From?

The idea of Jack-o-lantern comes from an 18th century Irish folk tale about a man named Stingy Jack who is said to have trapped the Devil in the branches of an apple tree.

After Jack’s death, he was too mean to have been allowed into Heaven, but the Devil wouldn’t accept him either for all the numerous tricks he had played on him. So Jack was left to wander the earth endlessly, lighting his path with a lit piece of coal inside a hollowed out turnip. It was from this legend that came the Irish tradition of placing jack-o-lanterns made of turnips and other vegetables in windows or by doors on Halloween. The jack-o-lanterns are meant to scare away Stingy Jack and all the other spirits that are said to walk the earth on that night. It wasn’t until the tradition was brought to the United States and Canada by Irish immigrants in the late 1800′s that pumpkins (which were much more abundant) were used for jack-o-lanterns.

How Do Other Countries Celebrate “Samhain”?

In Mexico, Halloween is known as ‘Los Dias de los Muertos’ (the day of the dead). However, it isn’t a time of sadness but one of great rejoicing. At this time of year the Monarch Butterflies, which spend their summers in the United States and Canada, return to Mexico. These butterflies are believed to bear the spirits of the dearly departed and are warmly and eagerly welcomed home. In family homes, people set up ‘altars’ with flowers, bread, fruit, and candy. Pictures of the deceased family members are also added. In the late afternoon special long-burning candles are lit – and it is time to remember the departed. In the Aztec calendar, this ritual fell roughly at the end of the Gregorian month of July and the beginning of August, but in the post-conquest era it was moved by Spanish priests so that it coincided with the Christian holiday of All Hallows Eve.

In Palermo and the rest of Sicily November 2 is a festival day for the children of Palermo as, according to tradition, they believe that their dead relatives would return the night before and leave them traditional sweets and cakes on the table (Martorana fruit, which is almond paste made into the shape of different fruit). They would also receive puppets of boiled sugar and toys. It’s one way of keeping the memory of their dead relatives and loved ones alive.

In Japan, the ‘Obon Festival’, (also called Matsuri or Urabon) is dedicated to the spirits of ancestors, for whom special foods are prepared. Bright red lanterns are hung everywhere. Lit candles are placed into lanterns and floated on rivers and seas. During the ‘Obon’ period a fire is made every night in order to show the ancestors where their families are. One of the two main occasions during the year when the dead are believed to return to their birthplaces. Memorial stones are cleaned and community dances performed. This festival, however, occurs during July or August.

In China, worshippers in Buddhist temples make ‘boats of the law’ ( fa-ch’uan) out of paper, some very large, which are then burned in the evening. The purpose of the celebration is twofold: to remember the dead and to free and let ascend to heaven the ‘pretas’. The ‘pretas’ are the spirits of those who died as a result of an accident or a drowning and as a consequence were never buried; their presence among men is thought to be dangerous. Under the guidance of Buddhist temples, societies are formed to carry out ceremonies for the pretas–lanterns are lit, monks are invited to recite sacred verses, and offerings of fruit are presented.

In Korea, the festival is called ‘Chusok’. Families take this time to thank their ancestors for the fruits of their labor. The family pays respect to ancestors by visiting their tombs and offering them rice and fruits. This festival occurs in August.

In Sweden, ‘Alla Helgons dag’, is celebrated between Oct 31-Nov 6. This, like many other holidays, has an eve that is either celebrated or is a shortened working day. The Friday before All Saint’s Day is a short day at the university and school children have vacation.

Not everyone celebrates Halloween to honor their dead and ancestors. Halloween is seen as an ‘American’ holiday in modern France. Pronounced ‘ah-lo-een’ by the French, this holiday was virtually unknown there until about 1996!!

Most people begin by seeing 11:11 or other striking number sequences (such as 22:22, 12:34, etc.) on digital clocks. Every time they look at a clock, it just happens to have such a number on it. If they pay attention, they start to realize that they have an impulse to look at the clock when such a number is displayed, and that this impulse/experience has a certain feeling to it - it feels like someone is trying to tell them something.

If they don't figure out what this means at this point, they usually experience an acceleration of this phenomenon. They start seeing number sequences everywhere: on receipts, license plates, VCR's, microwaves, addresses, etc. They may begin to wake up at night and look at the clock at the exact moment it will display this sequence. Some have even had the power go out, and instead of the clocks in the house all blinking 12:00, they all blink 11:11, or whatever sequence has been following them around.

Some say that these are signs from our angels that they are with us, that we are on the right track, or that something is about to happen. Still others say that when we have this experience, our DNA is being activated on some level - whatever that means. It all comes down to the same thing: this experience is what it feels like it is - a call to pay attention to what may be happening beneath the surface of reality - on what we might call a "spiritual" level.

Generally speaking, this phenomenon is considered to be a spiritual "wake-up" call. It tends to occur when one is just not thinking much about spiritual matters, but very ready to embark on a conscious spiritual path. It's a call to start thinking more deeply about life, and to become more aware of yourself as a spiritual being. (It appears to be quite effective!)

Some say these numbers are sort of a code that was programmed into our subconscious before we were born, and that it was set to "go off" at a certain time. When it does, the nagging feeling we have is our own memory or subconscious trying to tell us that there is a deeper meaning hidden in this experience. It is designed to lead us to question the nature of "reality," and grow conscious of the higher goals we set for ourselves before we incarnated.

If we do wake up spiritually and begin a conscious spiritual journey, we will usually stop having this experience. This waking up may be a subtle change, but more often, it's a major shift in one's whole thinking and life direction. At this point, many people begin actively exploring spiritual matters for the first time, and with a passion. They may change careers, leave a stale marriage, totally overhaul their personal lives, or make other big changes. In the wake of such an awakening, they are transformed on every level.

So when you see these number sequences, stop and wonder for a moment at the strangeness of this synchronicity, and what it must mean about the deeper, hidden nature of life. Whether you think angels, aliens or some other force is behind these experiences isn't the point: the important thing is to note that something is trying to tell you something, and it wants you to stop and get quiet and receptive enough to really hear it, for then it can guide you wherever you personally need to go.

A lot of people may ask "Why should I meditate and how does it help me really?" Meditation is a very powerful thing (my own personal opinion) and I do/have wrote so many of them... It is a proven fact that Meditation helps in many ways such as our own health or generally escaping from all our troubles and worries and stress's that life may throw at us....

Now I know, that there are many people that do find meditating quite hard as in visualision so therefore I would like too suggest if you are one of these people... there are also some fantastic meditations out there on audio - which are of great benefit too... 

If you are just starting out on your spiritual journey I would like too suggest that you do try and meditate each day... you can meet your guide, or loved ones that have passed on through meditation... you may also reveal some answers that you have been wanting too know... you don't have too be a perfectionist too meditate and it really does help us all relax ...

There are still a lot of people out there that do not understand "Empathy" or being an "Empathic"... well - for those that do not understand it, let me explain a little about it... 

Empathy is all about "Feelings",,, there is a huge difference in Sympathy and Empathy... such as - you can feel Sympathy for someone such as "I really feel sorry for you" where as with being an Empathic, you can actually feel another's emotions and pain and we all at times, tend too pick these emotions and pain from others and feel them as if they are our own... 

I feel this is where the importance of grounding and protecting comes into play... and again - some people have never heard of grounding and protecting, nor do they know what it means... 

It simply means putting a shield around yourself if you are "Empathic" so you do not take on other's emotions and pains and too learn the difference between your own emotions and pain so you don't end up feeling weighed down and not knowing why... if this does happen too you... ask yourself a simple question such as "Was I feeling this way a few minutes ago? Or has it just come on me from my friend has called or rang?" You will soon come too realise the difference between your own feelings and emotions and pain from other people's therefore in turn - just please remember too ground and protect yourself ... it doesn't have too be a big deal doing this, you can simply call on Archangel Michael and ask that his cloak be placed over you or you can simply imagine the colour of gold surrounding your entire being.... these are just a couple of ways of protecting yourself and believe me, they do work and I am a fellow empath... Oh yes. The #1 most important aspect during a reading. I think not. 99% of clients believe that the timing in which their prediction will come to fruition is the only aspect they should care about. In all actuality, it should be the LEAST.

In order for predictions to happen in the first place, you as a client need to understand the following:

Psychics do NOT make predictions happen-
It’s your job as a client to make sure your predictions happen. You’ll often hear me tell you the many ways a prediction can be delayed or cancelled. Here are the top examples of ways to eliminate that possibility:

* Do not dwell. Dwelling on the timing is the #1 way to delay a prediction. When you dwell, you’re telling Spirit and your higher power that you do not trust them, in turn sending the message to the universe that you are not ready for the prediction to happen.

*Cut the spiritual cords between you and the person/situation in question. For example: visualize the man/woman in your love life in front of you. Most likely you’ll see a rope or cord attaching you together. Visualize yourself taking a pair of scissors and cutting that rope or cord between you. This will get rid of the energy that’s reverting you back into the dwell mode.

*Stop second guessing yourself, fearing and using your emotions to dictate the choices you should be making for yourself. When you put your fears out into the universe, all you get back in return is what you fear, not what was supposed to have happened.

*Keep yourself #1 on your priority list. You should never put another person ahead or yourself. For example: if the object of your affection is telling you they don’t want to be with you, for God’s sake believe them and take them off your priority list. If you sit there and hold on to the timing in which they’ll return, you’re stagnating your growth and theirs; delaying timing and/or pushing them so far away that your prediction will be cancelled.

Spirit Guides do NOT make predictions happen-
Guides provide intuition and/or shine the light in the direction that’s in the client’s highest good. If you ignore Spirit, do not blame them for negative events. Everything happens for a reason and it’s the choices YOU make that dictate the final outcome. Spirit’s job is to help you grow, not make your lives all pretty and blissful.

Predictions are NOT ALWAYS set in stone.
God blessed everyone with the Power Of Choice aka Free Will. If you don’t like a prediction, most of the time you can pray it out or consciously make decisions to change it. It’s always best to ask your psychic if you can pray it out and if so, how much. Psychics are only allowed to see the possibilities for your future path(s) at the time of your reading. Like I’ve said time and time again, you can change the outcome of any prediction at any given point on the path.

For example: if you get a reading today and are told from Spirit to not contact the object of your affection for 6 weeks, don’t. If you do, the chance of that person contacting you on his or her own in the timeframe given during the reading is now slim. You did that. If you decide you don’t want that person for your future any longer, you have just cancelled your prediction. If you dwell long enough, you may either cancel the prediction and/or close the doors to all the other options you could’ve had as well. Not good.

Predicted timing is NEVER set in stone.
It’s the choices we make that can delay or speed them up. Also note that Spirit does not measure timing with calendars and clocks as we do in the physical world. They perceive the timing in which events happen is virtually ‘over night’.

There is also something that we call “Divine Timing”. Divine timing is when an event will occur on a specific date set by Spirit and Spirit alone. This means that most likely some predictions will happen at that time no matter what the psychic receives during your reading.

For example: Everyone knows I’m an ex-dweller. Well, I’m human so I guess that means I still fall into the trap sometimes, lol. I was dwelling on someone and getting readings regarding when or if we’d ever reconnect again. Time frames had come and gone when I finally let go. A year AFTER I let go, I did finally get my contact. I received it on the anniversary of which we met years ago. THE EXACT DATE. So hmmm, I guess Spirit knew that was going to happen but didn’t want to inform me. Why? They wanted me to learn the hard way of letting go, not dwelling and not allowing this man to stagnate my growth. It worked, big time.

SPIRIT GUIDES AND TIMING-
Here’s my new famous quote:
“There’s a reason for everything and everything has its divine time”.

It’s best to just buttume that there’s divine timing for everything and let go of your situation. When you do that, you’re putting yourself first again and completely trusting Spirit. You may ask your psychic if your situation has divine timing and see what your answer is. I can’t guarantee that Spirit will answer that question. They may say “yes there is divine timing but we won’t tell you when”. Most likely, that’s the answer you’ll get.

I currently have several cases of clients whose guides REFUSE to answer certain questions. Especially timing questions. If that ever happens when you get a reading from me, know that they have their reasons and it’s best to let the issue go. It doesn’t matter what you say, once they say NO, they won’t just give up and offer the information. You need to understand that when a psychic can’t get an answer for you, it’s not in your highest good to know at that time.

So now you know the importance of timing. It’s a - 1,000,000 LOL! All you need to be concerned with is the prediction and what you have to do to allow it to happen. Trust me, once you get into this mode, all your predictions will happen like clockwork.

Everything happens for a reason and everything has its divine time. Well, not EVERYTHING has divine time, but that’s the belief system I choose to live by. I do this because I have absolutely no fear in letting go. I trust God and Spirit completely with my path.

WHAT IS DIVINE TIMING?

Divine timing is when an event will occur on a specific date set by God, Spirit and your higher self. This means that most likely some predictions will happen at that time no matter what other time frame(s) the psychic receives during a reading.

Most people’s lives have some divine timing for specific events that will occur in their future, but there are people whose lives consist ONLY of divine timing. I’m one of those people. Every person I’ve had some type of relationship with in this lifetime have specific connections with me. My life is made up of one big synchronicity. Some of them are PLC’s (Past Life Connections), SMC’s (Soul Mate Connections), LPO’s (Lifelong Partnership Option) and the rest are TSC’s (Teacher-Student Connections).

Timing for ANY psychic can be hard to predict due to various factors including, free will and dwelling. It’s extremely difficult for a psychic to accurately predict a time frame for me, no matter how general or specific. 99% of the time, I already know since I‘m always in-tune with my higher self. Anytime I ask a question I’m adamant about; the advisor is always incorrect.

When YOU intuitively know the outcome of an event and/or timing in your situation, the psychic will not be able to confirm what you already know to be true. They may even get the exact opposite. This happens because Spirit does not repeat them once the client on their own has received the message. Spirit’s job is done. For example:

I’ve been reading for this female client since April and she’s now psychically evolving. She asked me one day if she was going to lose her job and I said, “I see you leaving your job on your own terms within 3″. I wasn’t sure if the 3 were weeks, months or March. She kept insisting that she was getting canned and I just couldn’t see that. 3 weeks later, she was fired.

Since she’s been so in-tune with her Higher self, she had already received the message from Spirit. The only good thing from the reading was that I was at least able to pull a 3 answer regarding the timing. That’s pretty rare. Usually a psychic will just get, “No, you’re not leaving that job”.

READINGS AND DIVINE TIMING:

When getting a reading regarding a subject that’s close to your heart, it’s always best to ask your psychic if divine timing plays a role in the bottom line. Most of the time there is always a “yes” answer to that question, but Spirit will never reveal the time frame. It’s divine, you’re not supposed to know when you ask. You will find out when the event happens.

If the answer is “no”, that means the client has full control over how fast or slow the events in a particular situation come to fruition, predicted or not. If there ISN’T divine timing in your situation, it’s still best to LET GO and LET GOD MOVE. That’s always in your highest good. Also, if there isn’t divine timing in the situation, that person or event was not pre-destined. That means your Higher self did NOT have any karmic lessons to complete and did not have any spiritual contracts for that person or event mapped out prior to incarnating this lifetime.

MAY I ASK FOR DIVINE TIMING IN MY SITUATION?

The answer to that question is YES.

You can always ask for divine timing. Just a warning though. When you do ask, you’re letting God and Spirit know that you TRUST them 100% and will consistently let go of your situation. If you are not consistent, you will have a heavy emotional price to pay. If you still plan on getting readings, don’t expect good news about that situation. Spirit will only tell the psychic things you DON’T want to hear in effort to keep you out of the dwell mode and get you to stop calling for readings. By asking for divine timing, you’re allowing your Higher Self to put a lid on the Universal Box of Knowledge. Some psychics may not even be able to answer some of your questions because of that.

On the flip side, just because your physical self wants to have a Lifelong Partnership with someone, doesn’t mean God, Spirit and your Higher self will agree. The divine event with a situation like that would be the LESSON your physical self is supposed to learn in order to progress to the next level on the path.

DIVINE EVENTS:

A divine event is a spiritual stepping stone that has been purposely put on your path, chosen by God, Spirit and your Higher self before an incarnation. One event must happen before you can go to the next level in your life.

Divine events can be anything from job changes and residential moves to relationship break-ups. For example:

You catch your lover cheating and you break up. A few months later, you meet someone new and you end up spending the rest of your life with him or her. The BREAK-UP was the divine event. In effort to back up “everything happens for a reason, ” you wouldn’t have met the LPO had you stayed with the cheating TSC.

THE PURPOSE IN ASKING FOR DIVINE TIMING:

The only reason we suggest asking for divine timing is to give everything up to God and Spirit. It will help keep you from the dwell mode and release a lot of the pressure you’re bestowing upon yourself regarding the situation. If you ask for divine timing and you constantly challenge it, you’re just going to be a bigger mess than you were before. If you have control issues, obviously you won’t be successful in working with Spirit regardless of what you ask for.

If you choose to just believe that your entire life is based upon divine timing and you STICK TO THAT BELIEF, you’ll probably save a lot of money when you stop calling psychics; thus predictions will happen on time

Those of us who are attempting to walk the spiritual path in this lifetime often have a difficult time. Over and over again, I hear my friends say that they are tired of always being *broke, sick, depressed*… whatever the challenge may be. I am sometimes guilty of this myself. We are human here, after all. It would be so nice to have extra money every month after the bills are paid, or to wake up in the morning feeling wonderful and well. However, the spiritual path is seldom this easy. We all need to try and remember, every day, why we are here, where we are going and what the goals are. If one believes truly in the laws of Karma, then one must them accept that we are here to transmute past Karma

and to step up to a higher level, in this life or in the next. We are here for one reason only: to advance. Where we are going is home, back to spirit where we belong. What are the goals? It is to live every day to the fullest, in the most honorable way possible and to do whatever good we can do in the process. Accepting the negative energy that comes to us, and then sending it back out in as positive a way as we can.
None of this is easy! In fact, it is as difficult a task as anyone can accept. Many times the negative that comes to us feels unfair. We are always attempting to be the best that we can be, so why do these problems keep coming up? Why does it seem as if we can never get ahead? I believe that exactly because we are spiritual beings, aware of Karma, reincarnation, the universal laws that govern us all, there is a subtle little pool of quicksand, waiting to suck us in… and this quicksand pool is named, "I deserve better."

Simply because we are aware of Karma doesn't exempt us from it. The very awareness that we have can make us feel somehow superior, as if we don't have to deal with the energy of our past lives simply because we are aware that we had them. The knowing that we are transmuting the negative somehow makes us feel as if we have done enough of it and should not have to do it anymore.
Ah, my friends, this is so not the case! The awareness is a gift, and the gift is that we now know what we are doing. We are living our lives fully awake, and fully a part of the miraculous. This doesn't exempt us from the trouble; it makes us more aware!
We should be grateful and thankful for that gift. Every adverse situation that we go through takes us one step closer to our ultimate goal: never needing to come back here again! Every day of illness that we live through, every adversity that we go through and emerge on the other side of is a gift. We have accomplished what we are here to do. Every day that we make it through to the best of our abilities is a triumph that we should be proud of.

I believe that when we can reach the point in our lives where we honestly thank the Creator for another problem is the day that we take that one giant step towards never having to do this again.
